John J. Sharkey, Jr. of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 77 years old.

Mr. Sharkey attended Syracuse and Rutgers Universities where he earned his law degree and was an attorney, practicing in Elizabeth for most of his life.

He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of BPOE Elks, Lodge 2116, Woodbridge.

Mr. Sharkey was predeceased by his parents, John Sharkey, Sr. and Margaret Glackin Sharkey.

Surviving are two cousins, Marjorie Greasheimer of Iselin and William Greasheimer and his wife, Jean, of Edison; a goddaughter, Sharon Greasheimer, of Woodbridge; and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
