John Redus passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home in Princeton Junction. He was 101 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy on July 18, 1922 to the late Anna and Nicholas Redus, he resided in Sewaren for many years until moving to Princeton Junction in 2006.

Mr. Redus was employed by the Woodbridge Township Board of Education as head custodian at Schools 2 & 16 in Colonia for 25 years before retiring in 1987; and had previously worked as an operator with the Hess Refinery in Port Reading.

He was a member of The Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Perth Amboy; served in the U.S. Army during World War II; and was a life member and Past Senior Vice Commander at Post 4410, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Woodbridge.

In addition to his parents, John predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Patskanick Redus, in 2018.

Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia Ann Redus-Tarchis and her husband, James, of Princeton Junction; and grandsons, John James Tarchis and Nicholas Peter Tarchis.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com) 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at The Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 684 Alta Vista Place, Perth Amboy.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Visiting hours for family and friends be on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
