John J. McPartland, Sr. passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. He was 71 years old.

Born in Long Island City, NY he resided in Edison and Woodbridge before moving to Sewaren 16 years ago.

Mr. McPartland was employed by the Woodbridge Township Department of Sanitation for 30 years before his retirement in 2005; and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Jude English McPartland; his children, John J. McPartland, Jr. and his wife, Shari, of East Stroudsburg, PA and Colleen Tobar and her husband, Ernesto, of Sewaren; two sisters, Maryann Mateyka of Old Bridge and Marilyn O'Connor of Edison; two brothers, Joseph McPartland of Jamesburg and Kevin McPartland of South River; and three grandchildren, Patrick and Mellissa McPartland and Kyle Tobar.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the McPartland Family.
