John A. Malyszko passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 90 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Carteret for the past 57 years. Mr. Malyszko was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II and was employed in the fuel cell division of Engelhard Industries in Iselin for 10 years before his retirement in 1991; and had previously been employed by Gulton Industries in Metuchen and McGraw-Edison Company in Belleville. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy, where he was a member of the choir for many years; was an avid gardener, especially of tomatoes that were often shared with most of his neighborhood because of the bounty of his harvest; and a member of The Arbor Day Foundation. Mr. Malyszko was predeceased by his wife, Grace Ebeling Malyszko, in 2008; two sisters, Mary and Angie; and a brother, Joseph. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Scofield, of Colonia; a son, David B. Malyszko, of West Orange; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Scofield. The funeral will take place on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
