John Kilcommons Joe passed away peacefully on Friday May 24, 2013 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was 74 years old. Born in New York City, he resided in Clark before moving to Rahway 15 years ago. Mr. Joe owned and operated John Joe Trucking for 55 years before his retirement last year. He was a veteran of both the United States Army and United States Navy during the Vietnam War era. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Anthony Joe; a sister, Rosemarie Joe; and two brothers, Anthony and William Joe. Surviving are a son, John Joe and his wife, JoAnn Ostrander, of Barrington, NJ; two daughters, Kimberly Krakowski and her husband, Stephen, of Dallas, GA and Christine Joe of Toms River; a brother, Peter Joe, of Avenel; his longtime companion, Lorraine Squires; four grandchildren, Jacob and Mariah Krakowski and Dominic and Daniela Joe; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his dog, Pepper. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church, Avenel. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
