Obituary

John J. Hrunka of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at home.  He was 84 years old.

Born in Jersey City, he resided in Port Reading for the past 60 years.

Mr. Hrunka was a United State Army Veteran Serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Hrunka was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading. He was a longtime basketball coach for St. Anthony's CYO.

He was employed as a machinist with Wilbur B. Drive, Western Electric and Brush Weilman before retiring.

He was predeceased by his wife Jean Calmon Hrunka who passed away in 2020.

He is survived by his daughters Jean Concitis of South River and Jo-Ann Hrunka of Port Reading; sons, John J. Hrunka and his wife, Edith, of Dingmans Ferry, PA and Robert Hrunka and his wife, Gerda Cella of Middletown, NJ; a brother George Hrunka and his wife Ann of Edison; his grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Candice, Katelyn, Lisa,  Casey, Christopher,  Joshua, Edward and MaryJean. And his great-grandchildren Sawyer, Landon, Hazel, Alyvia, Raymond, Eden, Sadie, Ruby, Margo, Shawn, Maverick and Eloise.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
