John "JJ" DeLuca passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2016 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. He was 89 years old.

Born in Bayonne, he resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for 41 years before moving to Columbus in 2001.

Mr. DeLuca was employed in sales with Hershey Chocolate Company for 32 years before retiring in 1992 where he was well liked by his customers.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and a founding member of Saint Andrew Council 5088, Knights of Columbus in Avenel. He was Past Grand Knight and Banquet Manager at Saint Andrew Council as well as serving on the Building Committee and with the Bowling League. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and traveling.

He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Edwin DeLuca, in 1992; his parents, Angelina and James DeLuca; and a brother, Thomas DeLuca.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Patricia Corrigan DeLuca; his children, Ellen Gibson and Robert DeLuca and his wife, Nancy; his sister, Marie DeLuca; four grandchildren, Brendan, Kyra, Sarah and Aidan; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home 399 Avenel treet, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Saint Andrew Council 5088, Knights of Columbus, 109 Morrisey Avenue, Avenel, NJ 07001 in Mr. DeLuca's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
