Joanne L. “JoJo” Karlbon-Giordano of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Rahway.

She was 55 years old. Born on December 14, 1970 in Edison; she was raised in Avenel and resided along the Jersey Shore most of her life before returning back to Avenel in recent years.

After graduating from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in 1988, JoJo worked in Customer Service and as a Crossing Guard for Woodbridge Township.

She loved meeting new people and making everyone smile.

Joanne is survived by her daughter Alexa “Lexii” and her father Ronald Giordano of South Amboy; her parents Linda and William Karlbon of Avenel, her sister Brenda and her husband Ayman Elbayar of Sewaren; her brothers Billy and Jimmy Karlbon of Avenel; her aunt and godmother Gail Cenni; and her 7 nieces and nephews. She is lovingly remembered by her many friends and relatives.

JoJo loved being around friends and family, spending time in the sun, and caring for local stray cats. She is remembered for being a fun, vibrant, and charismatic soul; the “life of the party.” She was fiercely loyal and was always there to lend a helping hand. She had the biggest heart and could make anyone laugh.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 1:00pm at The Avenel FireHouse, 346 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001.
