Joanne L. Addie (Tedesco) of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township peacefully passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Thursday, January 29, 2026 with her family by her bedside. She was 73 years old.
Born in Elizabeth on July 12, 1952 to Patrick Tedesco and Cathy Bond, she has resided in Avenel for the past 50 years with her husband, Wayne.
Joanne met Wayne in May of 1965 and they married on April 17, 1971. They were high school sweethearts and married for 54 years, their love was forever lasting. They later welcomed their four children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Joanne worked for Headstart Preschool for 25 years. She was passionate about working with the children. After retiring you would find her enjoying her hobbies, listening to music, trips to the casino, going to bingo, scrolling on her i-Pad or watching Hallmark movies,. Joanne's favorite holiday was Christmas and every year she wished for a white one.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Catherine Tedesco; her brother Patsy Tedesco; father-in-law and mother-in-law Warren and Mary Addie; brother-in-law Alan Addie; and son-in-law John Codianni.
Surviving are her children Keith Addie and his wife Melissa, Susan Codianni, Sharon Addie, and Kraig Addie; her sister Laura McGhee; her grandchildren April Lopez and her husband Giovanni, Jenna, Anthony Gianna, Trinity, Autumn, Jaden, and Keira' and her great grandson Julian.
To know Joanne was, to love Joanne. Her smile lit up every room. She was loved unconditionally and will forever be missed.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 11:00 am at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Interment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. At the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Joanne's memory.
