Joan B. Ross passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at her home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township.  She was 91 years old.

Joan was born in Woodbridge on August 12, 1932 to the late Paul and Jolan Farkas.  She grew up and lived on Prospect Avenue in Avenel until she married Dominick "Tony" Ross on February 22, 1958.  Joan and Tony moved to Colonia where she resided for 66 years.

Joan graduated from Woodbridge High School class of 1951.  She worked as an administrator for Johnson Motor Lines, Inc. in Avenel for 10 years prior to beginning a family.  During the next two decades, she worked in the family business, raised two children and created a home that became the center of activity for the neighborhood, family, and friends.  She loved to cook wonderful Hungarian and Italian dishes, and prepared holiday feasts with lots of food.

Joan joined the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel in 1945 and, up to her passing, held the distinction as the longest serving member.  She was an elder and participated on numerous committees including property care, personnel, pastor nominating, and the church's 75th anniversary celebration.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, and her beloved husband, Dominick Ross in 1998.

Surviving are her children, Mark Ross and his wife, Ellen, of Colonia and Lisa Mancuso and her husband, James, of New Port Richey, Florida;  grandchildren Heather Mancuso, and Megan Garcia and her husband, Nick; and great grandchildren, Melanie and Isabelle Garcia.

A memorial service will celebrate Joan's life on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel in Avenel, New Jersey.  All are welcome.
