Joan M. "Aunt Joan" Hardy passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 87 years old. A native of Staten Island, she resided in the Westerleigh section there before moving to the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township in 1995. Miss Hardy was employed as a bookkeeper with the Staten Island Mental Health Society before retiring. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading. Miss Hardy was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Murtagh Hardy;a brother, John Hardy; and a sister-in-law Lynn Hardy. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends. Interment was held privately at Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge under the direction of the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com) of Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2014 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 436 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading.
