Jeanette Turkmany passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Atlantic Care, Mainland Campus in Galloway Township. She was 88 years old.

Born on May 16, 1937 in Aleppo, Syria, she came to the United States in 1963, residing in Paterson before moving to Galloway two years ago.

Mrs. Turkmany was employed for many years as a seamstress with Brooks Brothers Clothing in Paterson and then worked as a Healthcare Aide with the Genesis Care Center in Cedar Grove prior to her retirement.

She was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Woodland Park; and enjoyed sharing her talent as a Middle Eastern chef with family and friends. She was especially well known for her grape leaves, rice pudding, baklava and other Mediterranean specialties.

Mrs. Turkmany was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, in 1994; son, George Turkmany; grandson, Anthony George Zsamba; and sister, Elise Artine.

Surving are her daughter, Nadima "Nikki" Zsamba and her husband, Kevin, of Galloway; and grandson, Ryan James and his girlfriend, Samantha Cook, of Carteret; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home at 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at  Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge.
