Jeanette Pierro passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Peggy Clooney's House at Hope Village in Scotch Plains. She was 78 years old.

She was born in Rahway and has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for over 50 years.

Mrs. Pierro was employed as a parts specialist for many years by General Motors Corporation in Martinsburg, WV.

She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society at the Church.

Mrs. Pierro is predeceased by a daughter, Donna Cherry; her parents, Robert and Jeanette Walck Gareis; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Gareis, Jr.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Gerd Pierro; a daughter, Carol Joswick, of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Fred Cherry of Bowling Green, KY, Robert Cherry of Maple Hill, KS and Eric Pierro of Branchville; step daughters, Jeannie Qualman and Debbie Garrow, both of San Diego, CA; sisters, Barbara Hauschild of Monmouth Junction and Harriet Ryan and her husband, Tony, of Rahway; 25 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rahway. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
