Obituary

James N. Pisapia, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home in Woodbridge surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old.

Born in Morristown, he resided in Kearny for many years before moving to Woodbridge 50 years ago.

Jimmy worked as a manager at various taverns in the Woodbridge and Newark area, including Barbary Coast and The Forge. He was construction manager for Atlantic Realty and then was a courtesy driver for Ray Catena Motor Cars after his retirement.

He was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge and a United States Navy veteran. He also enjoyed artistry, country-western music, horse racing and crossword puzzles, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and canine companion, Bella.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Susan Pisapia Cardilli and Joseph Pisapia; and a brother, Thomas Pisapia.

Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Kostka, with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary later this month; children, Patricia Rigas and her husband, Andrew, of Whippany and James Pisapia, Jr. and his wife, Jaime, of Woodbridge; siblings, Natalie Abell and her husband, George, of Bowie, MD, Joseph Pisapia of Sebring, FL, Geri Pisapia of Lakewood and Richard Pisapia and his wife, Michele, of Concord, NH; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Vincent and Thomas Rigas and Olivia, Mia and Gianna Pisapia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Hopelawn. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
