Obituary

James R. "Jim" Palmer passed away at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison on Thursday September 9, 2021. He was 69 years old.

Born in Pittsburgh, he has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for 33 years.

Jim worked as a Chemist and was the Research and Development Manager at Alpha Associates in Lakewood for 42 years, before retiring in 2018.

He was predeceased by his father, Leonard Palmer; mother, Elizabeth Lewis Palmer Tortorice; and brother, Alan Palmer.

Jim enjoyed many things in life but the New York Yankees and New York Giants meant the most. He also enjoyed doing crossword, jigsaw puzzles and listening to music.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Susan Godfrey Palmer; children, Elizabeth Palmer and her significant other, Dion Smith and James II and his wife, Emily; grandchild, Christian Smith; and sister, Catherine Martin of Fort Mill, SC.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church, 1961 Raritan Road Scotch Plains.

In lieu of flowers contributions towards Willow Grove Presbyterian Church 1961 Raritan Road Scotch Plains, NJ for a new wheelchair lift in Jim's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
