James E.
Mulvey
October 21, 1940 — October 24, 2024
Sewaren
James E. Mulvey passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at his home in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge Township. He was 84 years old.
Born in Hopelawn on October 21, 1940, to the late Olga (Gyargydeak) and James Joseph Mulvey, he was a lifelong resident of the Woodbridge Township area.
He served in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1962. After his discharge, he was employed as an electrician with Local 456 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 42 years prior to retiring. He was also a volunteer Edison Firefighter and a longtime blood donor.
He spent his retirement years with his family and friends, playing pool and cards. He also was a member of the Woodbridge Senior Billiard's Club, where he adopted the name Jim-Bob.
Jim-Bob was a man like no other. He lived life to the fullest. Slowing him down was not an option. When diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, his one goal was to reach his 84th birthday with his daughters. He celebrated with strength, love, and determination. Nothing was left unsaid. Mercifully, he passed just 48 hours later. On his terms, his way- "That's Right!".
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Eileen Tighe; and brother, Jackie Mulvey.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Patterson and her husband, Daniel, Danielle Finnigan and her husband, Michael, and Jenifer Magson and her husband, Jefferson; grandchildren, Brendan Patterson and his wife, Ashley, Aurelio Festa and his fiancé, Miliangie Beras Baquero, Haley Festa and Maddie Magson; grand dog, Shealyn Rose; previous spouses, Patricia Grzeszczak and Diane Mulvey; stepdaughters, Karen Creech and Kristine Wagner along with their families; and sister, Ellen Slover.
Please join us for a celebration of James' life on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at 12 p.m. with the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (mskcc.org) or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Mr. Mulvey's memory.
