James Joseph Johns, Jr. of Staten Island passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Staten Island, NY.   He was 83 years old.

Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 7, 1940; he resided in State Island most of his life.

Mr. Johns was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1961 until 1965.

He was employed with the United States Postal Service retiring as a Letter Carrier at The Forest Avenue Post Office in Staten Island after 40 years of service.

He was a member of The American Legion Post #277.

He was predeceased by his wife Lucille Alessandro Johns who passed away in 2023.

Surviving are his sons James C. Johnson and Frank A. Johns; his brother Shawn Johns; his sisters Denise Johns Romano and Lisa Johns Blankenship.

A Prayer Service will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 11:15 am at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Entombment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge. Visiting hours will begin on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
