James V. Carroll III passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. He was 47 years old.

Born in Belleville on April 23, 1975, he resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township for many years before moving to Carteret 23 years ago.

James was employed with the NJ Department of Corrections, Juvenile Justice Commission for 22 years, retiring recently as a senior corrections officer at the New Jersey Training School in Jamesburg; and belonged to Our Lady of Peace Council 9199, Knights of Columbus, Fords.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Kimberly Horbacz Carroll; daughter, Kaylee Carroll; parents, Mary Mongelli Carroll and James V. Carroll, Jr., of Fords; sister, Erin Drakoulis and her husband, Stephen, of Woodbridge; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Fords. Cremation will be private. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
