James M. Bettinger passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 from Covid-19 at his home in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township. He was 69 years old.

Born in Carbondale, PA, he grew up in Somerset NJ and has resided in Iselin since 1979.

Mr. Bettinger retired as an adjuster with Chubb Insurance Company. He graduated from Kean University with a bachelor's degree in History. Jimmy met his wife, Joanne at college and they married in 1975. He enjoyed history, genealogy and was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; and a member of the Sycamore Senior Center.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne M. Buczynski Bettinger on April 2, 2020; daughter, Christine H. Bettinger, in 2011; and his parents, Carl and Anna Tintle Bettinger.

He is survived by his son, David Bettinger, of Iselin; sisters, Carol Herrman (Joseph), Nancy Hitchner, Cindy Cerillo (Patrick), Sheila Rhoden (Bill), Jane Riveiro (Vincent), Lisa Masterhouse (Tom); brothers Stephen, Kevin (Patti), and Carl Bettinger (Denise); and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge
