Jacob J. Szelc of Rahway passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 94 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy; He resided in Rahway most of his life.

Mr. Szelc was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.

He and his brothers owned and operated Avenel Moving and Storage for 40 years before retiring.

Mr. Szelc was a communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel, and a member of The Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council, Perth Amboy.

He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Angeline Zywicki Szelc; four sisters Sophie Kuper, Helen Seiler, Michaeline Kolodinsky, and Rosalind Pagano; two brothers Felix Szelc and Frank Szelc.

Surviving are a sister Stasia Cohorsky of Iselin; a brother Walter Szelc and his wife Irene of Hopelawn; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will take place   Friday 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
