Obituary

Irene Rompa Lukach passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her home in Woodbridge surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old. Born in Carteret, she has resided in Woodbridge for 50 years. Mrs. Lukach was employed by Marketing Plus in Woodbridge for many years; and belonged to the Hungarian Reformed Church in Woodbridge and Carteret. Irene was a devoted congregant and Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She cherished the company of her family, her dear companion Bill, and friends. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and long walks with her beloved dog. She was predeceased by her husband, Geza Lukach, in 1994; five sisters, Arlene Palmer, Doris Freer, Margaret Scheyler, Matilda Malyar and Rosemary Finn; and two brothers, Alexander and Ernest Rompa. Surviving are a daughter, Cathy, of Woodbridge; three sons, Robert of Hillsborough, Kenneth of Clifton and Ronald of Spotswood; a sister, Elizabeth Ruszkai, of Edison; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Michelle and Connor. The funeral will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge, School Street at North James Street, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Greater NY Chapter (www.als-ny.org), 42 Broadway, Suite 1724, New York, NY 10004.
