Avenel, NJ — February 14, 1938 – August 26, 2025

Irene Lillian Kolis of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was 87 years old. Born in Courtdale, PA, she had resided in Avenel since 1972.

A devoted homemaker, Irene dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She was a member of The Central Baptist Church in Avenel. Known for her feisty personality, she brought laughter and warmth to all who knew her. She especially loved watching wrestling, a pastime that always brought her excitement and joy. She also enjoyed visiting flea markets, where she loved finding treasures and meeting new friends. Earlier in her life, she spent many happy times playing bingo.

Mrs. Kolis was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Thomas James Kolis, who passed away in 2011. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Kolis of Avenel, and Patrick Kolis and his wife Elizabeth of Lansdale, PA; her sister, Jane Martin; her brother, William Bazil Stiles; her half-sister, Marilyn Stiles; and her half-brother, James Stiles; two cherished grandchildren, Olivia Adams, Patrick Kolis Jr., and two precious great-grandchildren, Owen Jeffrey Adams and Charlotte Elizabeth Adams.

Viewing will be at The Central Baptist Church 505 Wylie Street, Avenel, NJ 07001 on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Viewing and Prayer Service will also take place at The Central Baptist Church on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park, Wrightstown, NJ, alongside her husband.
