Irene J. Daley died peacefully at her home on Monday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 97.  She was predeceased by Bill, her loving husband of 56 years, in 2010.

Irene was born in Jersey City, NJ to Josef and Marianna Skarzynski.  She was the youngest of four children including three loving brothers (Eddie, Matthew and Henry) with whom she stayed close with throughout their lifetimes.  She is survived by her daughter, Pati Devereux, her son William Daley and his wife Joanne, and her son Gerry Daley and his wife Bonnie.  She was an adoring "Babci" to her two grandsons, Gerry Daley and Gregg Daley.  "Aunt Irene" was a favorite of  her many neices, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Irene was avid animal lover,  Never one to turn away an animal in need, her home always included a rescue dog or two (or three).  She will be greatly missed by her dog, Fridge.

She was an active member of St Anthony of Padua parish including becoming an eucharistic minister when the role was first introduced. She also helped to launch the now-shuttered St Anthony Grammar School in 1964 and was the school's secretary for many years.

Irene loved to travel whether with her husband Bill, covering over 40 states in the U.S., or exploring Europe, Asia, Australia and South America with family members.  She enjoyed weekend road trips with her sister-in-law Toni, heading down to Atlantic City with the seniors club and family vacations down the shore in the summer.

Irene was always a positive light, an optimist at heart, grateful for the family, friends and love that filled her life.  She is greatly missed by her family and friends and remains in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at a future date to celebrate Irene's life.
