Irene Bakos of the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was 88 years old.
Born in Perth Amboy, she has resided in Hopelawn for the past 58 years.
Mrs. Bakos was employed with Bank of America in Perth Amboy as a switch board operator before her retirement in 1992.
She was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hopelawn.
Mrs. Bakos was predeceased by her husband Frank R. Bakos in 2020; parents, Paul and Ann Chingery; brothers, Andrew and George Chingery; and sisters, Anna Tarr and Helen Kafton.
Surviving are her sons, Frank Bakos, Jr. of Hopelawn and Michael Bakos and his wife, Linda, of Woodbridge; daughter, Victoria DeMone and her husband, Mark, of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Candice Krimin and Charles, Paige and Jack Bakos; great-grandchildren, Logan and Dylan; sister-in-law, Lillian Bakos, of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Interment will be in the Hungarian Reformed Church Cemetery, Hopelawn. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral Home.
