Imre J. Oross passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 78 years old. Born in Hungary, he has resided in Avenel for the past 47 years. Mr. Oross was employed as a fork lift operator for General Motors in Linden for 40 years before his retirement in 1998. He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; a member of Golden Circle, Avenel Senior Citizens and The Woodbridge Senior Citizens; and belonged to The United Auto Workers, Local #595, Edison and the Hungarian American Clubs of Woodbridge and Linden. Mr. Oross was predeceased by a brother, Otto Oross. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Anna Stropkay Oross; a son, James Oross, of Rahway; and a niece, Yolaka Oross. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
