Herbert Peter "Bart" Desch, Jr. passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township. He was 57 years old.

Born in Elizabeth, he resided in Avenel before moving to Iselin 27 years ago.

Mr. Desch was a United States Army veteran and worked as a mechanic for many years. He began his career with Overnight Transportation in Avenel and then worked for Grocery Haulers for 27 years and recently began employment with Woodbridge Township Department of Public Works.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Herbert P. Desch, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Bonnie Jackson Desch; four daughters, Theresa A., Julia B., Danielle L. and Shannon P. Desch, all at home; a son, Private First Class Christopher H. Desch, US Army, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX; a sister, Linda Hattersley; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home , 399 Avenel Street, Avenel followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Desch Family in Bart's memory would be greatly appreciated.
