Henry J. Stoehr, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished "Pop Pop" was called up to heaven on February 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with his health. He was 78 years old.

He was born on January 28, 1947, in New York City to the late Bridget and Henry Stoehr. He was raised in the Hells Kitchen section of New York City, attended Power Memorial High School, and then went onto graduate from Iona University, Class of 1968.

While in college, he met the love his life, Barbara Shadwick, a sweet girl from the West Village. They would marry on November 23, 1969, and enjoyed an amazing life together for over 55 years. From day trips to New York City and the casinos up and down the East Coast, across the pond to Europe, and an unforgettable trip to Hawaii, they enjoyed life to the fullest!

From their marriage, two sons were born, Steven and Michael. Henry was the model of what of father should be. A dedicated coach and mentor to his children during their youth to their biggest supporters as they grew into men. He inspired his sons to live life with integrity and kindness.

Iselin, New Jersey became their new hometown in 1975. For over 50 years, Henry and his family were lucky enough to have the best neighbors who shared many great times together.

Henry was employed with New York Life Insurance Company for 42 years before retiring as Director of Accounting in 2009; and served in the United States Army Reserve.

He was a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Iselin; and a member of Saint Cecelia's Council 3639, Knights of Columbus, Iselin.

Henry has reunited with his parents, his brother, William Stoehr, and his closet cousin, John Fox, in heaven.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Shadwick Stoehr; sons, Steven Stoehr and his wife, Tracy, of Woolwich Township, Michael Stoehr and his wife, Christy, of Freehold; beloved grandchildren, Tessa, Ryan and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Mr. Stoehr's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
