Henry M. Kwasnieski passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. He was 89 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, he has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township Woodbridge for the past 68 years.
Mr. Kwasnieski was employed as Sales Manager with Dunphey-Smith Sheet Metal Supplies in Union for 25 years, before retiring in 1993.
He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, served with the United States Merchant Marine during World War II and raised 14 foster children.
Mr. Kwasnieski was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Blash Kwasnieski, in 2014; and by his siblings, Lottie LeDuex, Amelia Soyka, Adele Gedmen and Jonathan Kwasnieski.
Surviving are his children, Henry E. Kwasnieski and his wife, Maria, of Flemington, Edward Kwasnieski and his wife, Michelle, of South Carolina and Marianne Horta and her husband, Paul, of Avenel; grandchildren, Andrew, Bernadette, Christie Ann, Andrea, A.J., Joshua, Joel and Jacob; and great grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas, Christian, Nicholas, Alexander and Giana.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 26, 2017 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street in Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
