Helene Pozarycki, age 87, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Senior Home, Woodbridge, New Jersey on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.  Helene was born December 6, 1935 in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Mary (Charney) and Peter Stec, of Mahanoy Plane, Pennsylvania.

Helene graduated from Shenandoah Catholic High School in 1953 and from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1957 (now Bloomsburg University) with a B.S. in Education.  Helene taught 1st Grade in Woodbridge Township School for 40 years before retiring in 1997.  Prior to her move to St. Joseph's Senior Center, Helene was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Holy Family Church.  She was active in the Rosary Society, Port Reading-Sewaren Seniors, NJEA, NJ Retired Teachers Association, Woodbridge Teachers Retired Education Association, and Middlesex County Retired Teachers Association.  She was a charter member of Don Bosco Columbiettes of Port Reading, a member of the Red Hat Society of Port Reading and a former volunteer at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway.

Helene entered St. Joseph's Senior Center's Assisted Living in February 2022 where she found friends, activities, and a happy, loving family. Helene attended daily mass, played bingo, and enjoyed celebrating her birthday with her friends at St. Joseph's.  Aunt Helene often told others that she "was home". The nurses and staff readily made Helene part of their family. To know Helene was to love Helene.  She was a generous soul, and always had a smile on her face, whether it was a happy smile or mischievous smile.  She was all her nieces and nephews' favorite aunt.

Helene was predeceased by her husbands, William J. Kudrick in 1971 and George Pozarycki in 2016; parents, Peter and Mary Stec; brothers, Peter J. Stec, Theodore Stec and Paul Stec; and sister, Dorothy Stec Blocksom.  She is survived by ten nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading.
