Obituary

Helen Simkovich, 96, of Edison, New Jersey entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 2, 2021 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison.

Helen was born on July 31, 1924 in Ralph, Pennsylvania, and resided in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township for many years before moving to Edison 20 years ago. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic church in Port Reading and was employed by Natvar Corporation in Carteret until her retirement in 1974.

Helen loved to cook, travel, laugh and be with family and friends. A Saturday of Rutgers football and a Sunday with the Jets and the Giants became her passion every fall. A trip to Atlantic City and the slot machines always placed a twinkle in her eye and some bounce in her step.  She loved to go crabbing with a passion. Netting a big crab always brought out a wide grin. A smile, a joke along with hugs and kisses were her hallmarks along with a "always remember grandma loves you" to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Simkovich was predeceased by her husband John J. Simkovich, in 1998: parents, Bertha and Michael Kacsur; sisters, Julia Borusovic and Mary Ballaris; and brothers, Michael and George Kacsur.

Helen is survived by her sons, Robert Simkovich and his wife, Michele, of Edison and Dr. John Simkovich and his wife, Jane, of Mount Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren: Danielle Allen and her husband, Russell, Kenneth Simkovich and wife, Dana, Michael Simkovich, Dr. Suzanne Simkovich, John Paul Simkovich; and five great grandchildren: William Allen, Joseph Allen, Lea Simkovich, Adalynn Simkovich and  Aubrey Simkovich. She is also survived by one brother, Albert Kacsur, and wife, Joanne, of Scotch Plains.

Funeral services were under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), Woodbridge. The family is planning a Memorial Service and a celebration of her life later this year for friends and family once it is safe to gather.

Helen, mom, grandma and granny was loved and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org) in Mrs. Simkovich's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
