Obituary

Helen Elek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at her home in Woodbridge. She was 96 years old. Born in Flemington, she was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge. Miss Elek was a pioneer in the field of women in banking. She was employed for many years by the Perth Amboy National Bank, retiring in 1980 as Comptroller, a rare accomplishment for a woman at that time. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Woodbridge. Miss Elek was predeceased by two sisters, Julia Krisak and Margaret Elek; and five brothers, James, Joseph, Alexander, John and Louis Elek. Surviving are three nieces, Margaret Loder, Geraldine Fee and Leta Jacobson; five nephews, James, Richard, Robert, John and Jeffrey Elek; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Woodbridge, 539 Barron Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Woodbridge, 539 Barron Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. .
