Hector Martinez passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Peggy Clooney's House at Hope Village in Scotch Plains. He was 87 years old. Born in Mendoza, Argentina, he resided in Kew Gardens, Queens for many years. Mr. Martinez was a jeweler and owned Martinez Brothers Jewelry Manufacturers in New York City. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Elsa Iglesias Martinez; a daughter, Liliana Montero and her husband, Manuel, of Avenel, NJ; a son, Mauricio Martinez, of Winchester, VA; his former daughter in law, Catherine Smith; and four grandchildren, Manuel, Karina, Madeline and Lillian. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass celebrated in his honor on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or Center for Hope Hospice (centerforhope.com) in Mr. Martinez's memory will be greatly appreciated.
