Harvey L. James passed away after a long bout with pneumonia. Memorial services will be held on January 30, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Harvey graduated from Edison Technical High School. Thereafter he went to work for General Motors for 33 years from which he retired. He was also a police reserve for the Elizabeth Police Department for several years. His passion was playing the drums for his group "The Magic Touch Band" for well over 45 years. Beloved son to Leroy and Lula James, husband to Anna James, father to Marlena James and grandfather to Tristan Howard. He was pre-deceased by his father Leroy James Sr. and his brother Leroy James Jr. and his sister Dolores Carpenter and one surviving sister Eloise Johnson. He is survived by a host of niece's and nephew's LaChon Gordon, Chad Campbell, Shakira Brown, Sherrine Washington, TaVarez Campbell and David James. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude all acts of kindness, love and sympathy extended to us in our time of bereavement.
