Obituary

Gus Theophilakos passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough. He was 88 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided there for most of his life before moving to Lakewood ten years ago. Mr. Theophilakos was employed as a Machine Operator with Cheveron Oil Company in Perth Amboy for 38 years before retiring in 1985. He was a very active member of St. Demeterio's Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy and a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Theophilakos was predceased by his wife, Elizabeth Theophilakos, in 2006; and a son Dwight Theophilakos in 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Maloney, and her husband, Neal, of Hillsborough; two sons Jonathan Theophilakos and his wife, Nancy, of Lakewood and Deno Theophilakos of Kingston, NY; two brothers William Theophilakos of Manalapan and Lester Theophilakos of Conneticutt; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Demetrios G.O. Church, Perth Amboy. Entombment will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Demetrios G.O. Church, 41 Wisteria Place, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
