Grover Collis Blend of Lanoka Harbor passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2017 at home. He was 91 years old
Born in Elkland, PA; He resided in Woodbridge for 48 years moving to Lanoka Harbor in 1996.
Mr. Blend served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a Pilot and in The Air Transport Command.
He was employed as an Operating Engineer for The Operating Engineers Local #825 in Springfield for 65 years retiring in 1990, participating in many area construction projects including the restoration of The Statue of Liberty, and the installation of The Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor at Princeton Plasma Physics Lab.
Mr. Blend was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge.
He was predeceased by his son Thomas Grover Blend who passed away in 2012; his parents Collis B. Blend and Irene Slade Blend; a sister Marion Porter; a brother Richard C.Blend.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Patricia A. Harned Blend; his children Susan I. Ganser of Colorado, Jane P. Marshall and her husband John of Pennsylvania, Collis G. Blend of South Plainfield, Amy L. Blend-Burak and her husband Stephen of Barnegat, Carleton G. Blend and his wife Robyn of Sayreville, Jennifer R. Lambert and her husband Gary of Howell, and Frederick W.G. Blend and his wife Jennifer of Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren Heather, Charles, Megan, William, Brittany, Kelly, Jessalyn, Lindsey, Devinn, Colton, Zachary, Hannah, Ellisa, Jacob, Kady, and Nicholas; five great-grandchildren Maybelline, Stella, Levi, Lila, and Abigail.
Funeral will take place Saturday, February 11, 2017 at a time to be announced from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.Costello-greiner.com ) 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
