Obituary

Godfrey Lancelot Richmond of Flemington, NJ, formerly of Kara Kara Linden, Guyana passed away on Sunday May 7 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. He was 62 years old. Born in New Amsterdam, Guyana, he has resided in Flemington for the past 24 years.

Godfrey moved to the United States in 1988 and was employed as a Location Business Manager for Manhattan Mini-Storage for many years. He never forgot his roots and was a staunch supporter of the Linden Fund, a charitable volunteer-based organization founded by the sons and daughters of his hometown Linden to help to return it to a vigorous community.

Godfrey was a loving son, father, sibling, and friend. He was predeceased by his father Malcolm and his sister June. He is survived by his mother Janet, his siblings, Annette, Seonaid, Kim, Godwin, Ronald, Kemp and Michelle as well as his wife Paula and children Jordan, Anissa and Samantha, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Godfrey had the personality and charisma to make friends in any situation - his laugh was infectious and his stories colorful, enthralling anyone around him. He was the life of the party, always seeking an opportune time to gather, eat, and have fun trading stories with his friends. He was often late to arrive but the last to leave any social event.

He taught his children math, the 'Guyanese' way, the best way to fill a grill when barbequing, the importance of always keeping cash in your wallet, how to (quickly) navigate traffic, confidently swim in the ocean, and the carefully studied art of relaxation. Godfrey loved sharing the accomplishments and growth of his family with his network - often on the phone boasting about the latest update. He was loved, and will be dearly missed by his loved ones
