Gloria M. Witkowski passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at her home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. She was 88 years old.

Born in Jersey City on July 6, 1935 to the late Catherine and James Brown, she has resided in Avenel for over 50 years.

Mrs. Witkowski was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Avenel Memorial Post 7164, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and a longtime volunteer with the NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting for others but, above all, she loved her big family.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Chester Witkowski, in 2008; sister, Nancy Rhinehardt; brothers, Arthur Brown and his wife, Florence, Butchie Brown and his wife, Barbara, Jack Brown, Jimmy Brown and his wife, Maryanne, Mickey Brown and his wife, Peggy and Walter Brown.

Surviving are her daughter, Catherine "Kit" Laughlin and her husband, Robert, of Avenel; sister in law, Patricia Brown, of Scotch Plains; and brother in law, George Rhinehardt, of Barnegat.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
