Obituary

Gladys Ruth Egan passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division. She was 95 years old.

Born on October 10, 1929 in North Bergen to the late Anna Marie and Austin Sneath, she has resided in Woodbridge since 1962.  She was a loving wife to Peter Egan for 53 years and a wonderful Mother to her six children.

In her youth Gladys studied Ballet at The Carnegie Hall School for Ballet before joining the National Roller Derby League in April of 1950.  She skated with the New York Chiefs and Jersey Jets in the Roller Derby League and was known for wearing a white ribbon in her hair.

Mrs. Egan was a longtime communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge; and enjoyed Jazzercise classes and Country Line dancing with her many friends.  Gladys enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always had a kind word that would brighten their day.  She brought a lot of happiness to everyone she met and always made people smile.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter E. Egan, in 2012; son, Peter S. Egan, in 2018; and brother, Kenneth Sneath, in 2013.

Surviving are her loving children, Kathleen Fallon of Manalapan, Mitchell Egan of Shrewsbury, Craig Egan of Woodbridge, Kenneth Egan of Manchester and Dennis Egan of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Kenneth Egan, Jr., Brian Egan, Nicole Lorrico, Matthew Egan, Christine Egan, Thomas Fallon, Emily Fallon, Kaitlyn Fallon, Craig Eric Egan and Braden Egan; and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Woodbridge. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Mrs. Egan's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
