Gerard "Roddy" Giroux of Metuchen, New Jersey, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 48 years old.Born January 12, 1969 in Elizabeth, Roddy was a lifelong resident of Menlo Park Terrace in Woodbridge, NJ. He worked as a security guard for many years and was a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Iselin.A beloved family man, Roddy was proud of his brothers, adored his mother, and often doted on his niece and nephews. He took pride in his loved ones and looked forward to family gatherings where he could tell stories, play Pinochle with his brothers, and talk about his love of sports and movies, including the NY Mets, NY Jets, Star Trek and Star Wars.He is survived by his mother Paulette (D'Ippolito) Giroux of Metuchen; two brothers, Christopher Giroux of Hillsborough, and Andrew Giroux, and his wife Carie of Readington; Godparents Marie E. Prada of Iselin, Paul Giroux of Florida ; niece Lauren Giroux, nephews Andrew Jr. and Jonathan Giroux; as well as many aunts ,uncles, and cousins .He was predeceased by his father, Gerard A. Giroux Sr., in 2013.Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church, Iselin. Cremation will be private. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ( jdrf.org ) or Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation ( myotonic.org ) in Gerard's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
