Geraldine "Gerry" Bader passed away peacefully in her sleep at Saint Joseph's Senior Home on Sunday, November 28, 2021. She was 89 years old. She sent a brief flurry of snow to let us know that she made it to heaven.
She was born in Perth Amboy but was a lifelong resident of, Woodbridge, NJ. She attended St. Mary's High School where she was a varsity cheerleader. After graduation, she worked at Raritan Copper Works, Perth Amboy, NJ before marrying the love of her life, Bob. She was a devoted and selfless wife and loving mother. She enjoyed volunteering at St. James School for the PTA and served as PTA President. She also enjoyed working at Habersham Plantation in Woodbridge Center, where she was able to enjoy her passion for decorating.
She was strong, kind, generous, witty and opinionated but always fully supported her husband and children. She was always so fun loving and full of life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping and sunning herself in the St. Joseph's garden and on the Perth Amboy waterfront. Her greatest pride and joy in life was her family. She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up and they all adored her.
She was a devout communicant of St. James Catholic Church, Woodbridge, NJ.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Leo Bader, in 2018, and devoted son, Robert John Bader, in 2010; parents, John Seaman and Margaret Seaman Balasic; and sister, Margaret Matis.
Surviving are her loving family, daughter, Dody Gaskill, and her husband, Charles de Young, of Fort Mill, SC; sons, Francis Bader and his wife, Lorena, of Laveen, AZ and John Bader and his wife, Patti, of Woodbridge; grandchildren Erin, Kelly, Lynsay, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Mackenzie, Christian, Matthew, and Brittany; six great-grandchildren Kiley, Tyler, Megan, Jackson, Ella and Emrys, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also well cared for and loved by the many nuns, nurses, aides and staff at St. Joseph's. Her family are so grateful to all of them for their goodness and friendship to her always.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint James Food Pantry, Woodbridge or Saint Joseph's Senior Home, Woodbridge in Mrs. Bader's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
