Obituary

George P. Roussey passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 83 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Roussey has resided in Woodbridge since 1960. He was employed in the boiler and machinery insurance field for many years with Continental, Marsh & McLennan, and Alexander & Alexander insurance companies before retiring after one last stint with The Travelers Insurance Company in 1995. Mr. Roussey was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He joined in 1948 and served in the Air Patrol during the Korean War. After leaving active service, he served in the New York Air National Guard as a weekend warrior, retiring in 1984 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge and belonged to Middlesex Council 857, Knights of Columbus, Woodbridge. He was a world traveler throughout his career in insurance, an avid theme park visitor, golfer, as well as an excellent cook. He was also an avid New York Giant fan and season ticket holder for 45 years. Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Rita Spiess Roussey; sons, George D. Roussey and his wife, Kim, of Piscataway and John T. Roussey and his wife, Shirley, of Carneys Point; five grandchildren, Katie, Victoria, Mark, Jonathan and Nick; and two brothers, Robert and Ron Roussey. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Brigadier General W.C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Park, Wrightstown. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
