George R. Rebnicky passed away in the company of his loving family on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at his home in Woodbridge. He was 90 years old.
Born on October 18, 1935 in Woodbridge to the late Elizabeth and George Rebnicky, he was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Rebnicky was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, Class of 1953; and served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years before being discharged as a Sergeant in 1956. He then served as a police officer with the Woodbridge Township Police Department for 29 years prior to his retirement.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dolores “Dolly” Rebnicky, in 2023; and son, Eric G. Rebnicky, in 1997.
Surviving are his loving daughter, Jamie Swansboro and her husband, Ed, of Woodbridge; grandsons, Danny Swansboro and his wife, Jena, of Woodbridge and Kyle Swansboro and his wife, Nicole, of Staten Island; adored great grandsons, Rocco and Nico. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law, Richard and Susan Rebnicky, of Woodbridge; 6 nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to their Angel, Miriam Alberto, for her loving care of George over these last several years.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Mr. Rebnicky’s honor to the Dementia Society of America (Dementia Society of America).
