George M. Marrone, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. He was 75 years old.

Born in Hoboken on May 17, 1948 to the late Ann and George Marrone, Sr., he resided in Port Reading before moving to Carteret 4 years ago.

Mr. Marrone was employed as a maintenance worker with NJ Transit in Hoboken for 35 years prior to his retirement; and served as a union delegate with NJ Transit for 25 years.

George was a gentle man who will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Carmella Margiotto Marrone, in 1986; and daughter, Tonia Marrone, in 1996.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Maryann Trotto Marrone; son and daughter in law, David and Barbara Ziskoski, of Sewaren; grandchildren, Jaclyn Ziskoski, Emily Ziskoski and David Ziskoski; and great granddaughters, Ava and Lilliana.

The family wishes to express gratitude to nurses, Jennifer, Lakeisha and Alexa, the entire staff at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison and hospice nurse, Kelly.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 436 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private.
