Garry V. Maurath passed away on December 24, 2024 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 83 years old.

Born in New Brunswick on August 7, 1941 to the late Henry and Mary Maurath he has resided in Avenel since 1967.

Mr. Maurath worked in the construction field as a tile setter for many years; and retired as a custodian from the Woodbridge Township Board of Education.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maurath was predeceased by his wife, Nanette Maurath, in 2017; and sisters, Mary and Dorothy Ann.

Surviving are his children, Nanette "Nan" Maurath of Avenel, Douglas Maurath of Avenel and Suzanne Smith and her husband, Kevin, of Colonia; siblings, Harry Maurath of Manahawkin, Richie Maurath of Ireland, Mericia Maurath of North Brunswick, Margie Lamanna of North Brunswick, Don Maurath of East Brunswick, Ed Maurath of Maryland and Donna Abbruscato of Mays Landing; and grandchildren Brandon, Breanne, Carissa, Nick, and Abigayle.

Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday December 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Entombment will be at Saint Getrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday December 30, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
