Fred J.H. Nelson, Sr. of Woodbridge passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  He was 84 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy, he was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.

Mr. Nelson owner and operated Nelson Industrial Mowing for 16 years before retiring in 2000.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred M. Nelson and Karen Sorenson Nelson; and sister, Karen Klibanoff.

Mr. Nelson was an avid outdoorsman with a great work ethic.

Surviving are his children, Fred J.H. Nelson, Jr. of Spotswood, Raymond K. Nelson of Woodbridge and Colleen J. Nelson-Bentley of Sayre, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Rachael Martin of Browns Mills; great granddaughter, Lilith Martin; and his longtime companion, Patricia Carratura.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 4, 2022 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
