Frank Matulonis passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 88 years old. Born in Newark, he resided in Avenel for the past 65 years. Mr. Matulonis was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War; and employed as foreman in the boiler room for Schering Plough Pharmaceutical Corporation in Kenilworth for 42 years before retiring in 1994. He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler at Majestic Lanes and Woodbridge Bowling Center. Frank Matulonis was predeceased by two sons, Kenneth A. in 1985 and Frank in 1994; his parents John and Cecila Matulonis; and two brothers, John and Alphonso. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Dushna Matulonis; a daughter, Nancy Kauffman and her husband, Richard, of Sewaren; two sons, Thomas and his wife, Michelle, of Edison and Michael and his wife, Debbie, of Red Bank; and five grandchildren, Nicole Kauffman and Katie, Alex, Andrew and Peter Matulonis. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Forest Green Cemetery, Old Bridge.
