Obituary

Frank L. St. Marie passed away on Friday November 22, 2024, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 95 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy on April 15, 1929 to the late Paul and Lillian Cerulo St. Marie, he lived there before moving to Woodbridge in 1953.

Mr. St. Marie was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1947, he attended Newark College of Engineering and work-related courses at Boston College.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany from 1951-1953; and was employed by ASARCO in Perth Amboy in the chemical and assay laboratory for 29 years until 1977; and Hudsar Inc. in Newark as assay laboratory supervisor until his retirement in 1990.

He was a Communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church and served as church usher for many years. He was also a member of the ASARCO 25 Year Club, Mayor's Advisory Committee of Woodbridge Township, Planning Board of Woodbridge Township, BPOE Elk's Lodge #2116, Woodbridge, where he was active with the Handicap Children Committee, was past president and member of the AARP, Woodbridge Chapter #386, served as poll clerk for the Middlesex County Election Board, was a co-founder of the Woodbridge Senior Billiards Club, and was the Co-Chairman of the Woodbridge Senior Olympic Committee since 2007.

He received the Mayor's Volunteer of the Year Award for Woodbridge Township in 2000 from Mayor Jim McGreevey, and from Mayor Frank Pelzman in 2003. He also received the Life Saving Award from New Jersey Heart Association for work with defibrillators for Woodbridge Township seniors. He was announced as the Grand Marshal and Italian American Man-of-the-Year for the 2012 Columbus Day Observance Ceremony and was selected by the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce as recipient of the 2014 Carol S. Hila Humanitarian Award for exemplary service to the community. And during the 350th Anniversary Celebration of Woodbridge Township in 2019, Frank was selected to be one of the recipients of the "Key to the Township" by Mayor John E. McCormac for his unwavering commitment to public service in the community.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wives, Irene Simon St. Marie, in 1977, and Rosemary Mruczak St. Marie, in 2005; sister, Mary Mazza; sister Annete Petrenka; and brother, Mario St. Marie.

Surviving are his sons, Mark St. Marie and his wife, Aileen, and Paul St. Marie and his wife, Linda; stepdaughters, Lynn Mruczak, Judy Schaible, and Amy Hancock; grandchildren, Marleen, Sherri and Paul St. Marie, Alex and Ryan Schaible and Ashley and Bryce Hancock; and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday November 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will be private. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
