François Léon was born on March 11, 1944, in Les Cayes Haïti; and passed away on November 6, 2021 in Freehold, New Jersey. He was 77 years old.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugène and Odéïde Théard Léon and his adoptive parents Mr and Mrs Fougère; sisters, Elsie Guillou, Edna Richards and Micheline Pierre-Louis; and brother, William Léon.

He is survived by his sisters, Mireille Constant, and Marie Huguette Wah; brothers, Jean-Joseph Léon and Frantz Léon; and many loving nieces and nephews, including Mario Guillou, Michaelle Peebles, Ralph Guillou, Kharine Reese and Tamara Guillou, many cousins and extended family.

François immigrated to the US as a young man and for many years he lived bicoastally in New York and Florida.  He made New Jersey his home later in life.

François was employed at Mount Sanai Medical Center and he enjoyed his work immensely.  As a young man in Haïti, he was a talented musician and loved playing the saxophone, composed music and singing beautiful songs in both French and Spanish, which brought joy to his family.

François was a wonderful family man, so handsome, with a zest for life and "joie de vivre" parallel to none. He always had a smile to share and brought happiness to everyone who met him. He was thoughtful, gentle and always had a kind word to uplift you. He was a loving Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend and he will be so dearly missed.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 244 Avenel St, Avenel, NJ 07001, New Jersey. Entombment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, US 1 S & Route 35,  Woodbridge, NJ 07095 Woodbridge, New Jersey.
