Evelyn M. LaPenta passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. She was 90 years old.

Born on May 21, 1934 in Somerville to the late Jane and William Denning, she resided in Annandale and Avenel before moving to Sewaren in 1964.

She was employed as a claims adjuster with Saint Paul Fire and Marine Insurance in Edison prior to her retirement.

Evelyn was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Antonio Prestien-Lopez, in 2018; sister, Jane Balog; and former husband, Robert W. LaPenta.

Surviving are her son, Robert D. LaPenta and his wife, Christina, of Woodbridge; grandchildren, Katelynn Nalewajko, Cassandra Milanese and Anthony LaPenta; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kenzie, Nicholas and Michael.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Visiting for family and friends will be on Thursday evening from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
