Eugene G. Merritt passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 56 years old. He was born in Perth Amboy and lived in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township for most of his life. Mr. Merritt was a United Sates Army veteran where he served as a military policeman. He was later employed in the logging industry and as a ramp supervisor with Continental Airlines. He was a predeceased by his parents, Nuel L. and Ruth Coleman Merritt. Surviving are his companion of 33 years, Elizabeth Simmons; and many cousins including Michael Merritt of Perth Amboy. A funeral service will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Grahmann on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
